UW-Eau Claire

Our trip to Eau Claire
Have you ever done anything spur-of-the-moment? I love doing stuff like that, but the opportunity usually never comes up. Before I tell you what we did, I will give you a little background to the story. Last year Colin and I lived in the same dorm, Webster, where we met two really awesome people, Emily and Kristin. We didn't meet them until half way through the year from same strange events, but that is another story. Anyway, at the end of the school year, the 4 of us were good friends, but Emily decided that she was going to Eau Claire next year instead of good old Oshkosh. We figured, it's her choice, but that wouldn't stop us from missing her or keeping in contact with her.

On Friday September 14th, I was talking to Emily online, and she was saying that she had an "interesting" day. We started talking getting into this long conversation, when she told me that her boyfriend and her just broke up today. Which might not seem like much, but they have been going out for 3 years. I told her I could call her and talk to her over the phone, but she said she cried enough today. Since it was a Friday, I asked her what she was doing this weekend. She said she was going to Madison for the weekend. I told her I would have come up for the weekend if she were there. She told me that was sweet of me, and I was seriously thinking of driving up there that night if she was staying there.

Then on Monday September 17th, the same day my watch decided it didn't want to change the date anymore, Emily starting talking to us online again. I guess her boyfriend called or stopped by, it was very emotional, and she was crying all day. Colin and I felt real bad for her, so I asked her what she was doing tonight. She said, "Nothing." Then I said we should go visit her. She got really excited about it. Colin called his girlfriend and was talking to her for a while, and we finally left at like 9:30pm. Emily gave me directions, and I must say, they were really good directions, so its not her fault that we got a little off course later.

Anyway, as we were pulling out of the parking lot, I asked Colin where is 21? He's like, "I don't know." We were so excited about doing something spur-of-the-moment and seeing Emily, we didn't care that we know nothing about directions. So the first stop was the gas station in Oshkosh to get directions to 21. That's pretty bad that we had to get directions to get out of Oshkosh, but oh well. I just want to emphasis the fact that Colin and I are both men, and yes we did ask for direction. Whoever said men don't ask for directions never met us.

We were doing really well for a long time of driving, but we had to make a stop to use the restrooms and get something to eat and drink. We stopped at some little gas station in Red Granite or Berlin or something. That was stop number 2, encase you were counting. I bought a 2-liter bottle of Mt. Dew to quench my thirst and get me more energy, which I probably didn't need added to all the excitement. Oh yeah, plus all the candy probably wasn't needed either.
